BACKGROUND

The 175th was organized under TOE 5-207G.  This TOE was rescinded 29 May 1968 and replaced with TOE 5-207H.  TOE stands for Table of Organization and Equipment.  This page shows the organization under the H-series TOE as we have not found a copy of the G-series document.  The changes should be slight, and probably the actual 175th included a larger number of men and some earlier made equipment.  This TOE shows a unit strength of 167, platoons had 36 men. For the record, a TOE is the basic document and the actual unit was organizied under a MTOE or Modified TOE that accounted for the specific mission and climate of Vietnam.  If any veteran's memory can remember actual differences, we will be glad to post these to this page.  The data for this page is from LTC (ret) Doug Lehmann.

"ROTATIONS"

The notes to this organization indicate 1st and 2nd "rotations".  The 1st rotation was from July 1966 to July 1967.  The second rotation was from July 1967 to July 1968.  Due to an "infusion" program, many vets were reasigned during the 1st rotation to prevent a 100 percent turnover on July 1967.  Despite these efforts, over half (??) of the unit rotated in July of 1967 and 1968
